Louisiana's seafood industry is in danger. Formosa Plastics threatens to build just upriver from New Orleans and discharge into Lake Des Allemands (our "Catfish Capital of the Universe") and into the Mississippi River. When fish consume plastic, the microplastic ends up on our plate.
Our seafood industry can't take another Bianca Spill, which dumped a billion plastic pellets - called nurdles - into the Mississippi on 8/2/20. It took four months for state agencies to begin any meaningful cleanup. Tell the New Orleans City Council to take a stand and pass a resolution opposing the proposed Formosa Plastics plant in St. James Parish.
We must protect Louisiana's seafood, restaurant, and tourism industry. Not just Formosa Plastics, but YCI Methanol and South Louisiana Methanol would discharge straight into Des Allemands.

Citizen-led nurdle clean up crew literally sweeping the banks of the Mississippi for nurdles.
Formosa Plastics is not a done deal. Its permits are currently suspended, pending more environmental impact analysis. Formosa hasn't received storm or wastewater permits, either. We need as much pressure on Formosa as possible, so thank you for supporting!
With your help, we can stop Formosa Plastics once and for all.
